Throughout our history, we have seen vending progress to admirable lengths. Never more so, however, than when the world’s first vending machine was created for homeless people. Installed in Nottingham last month, the machine dispenses key items such as water, fresh fruit, soap, toothpaste and books. Whilst the technology behind it isn’t anything revolutionary, it’s the generosity behind the idea that has sparked attention. The Guardian are just one of the institutions to report on the hot topic…

Every year we tie our name to some excellent organisations, and 2017 has seen us work with both Acorns Children’s Hospice and Just Small Change. As the year winds down, it’s pleasing to receive some positive feedback about just how far our efforts have travelled, and the latest recognition comes all the way from Kenya courtesy of Just Small Change.

Christmas is coming round fast, which means so is our staff party night. When we come back to work in the New Year, there will only be four weeks before our big celebration on Saturday 27th January 2017. Its set be a great night where all our staff members and their families come together to celebrate the 55-year success of Coinadrink Limited. Such longevity has been just reward for hard work and a customer-centric approach, and we will be celebrating in a way that has always been familiar to us: through charity.

Coinadrink recently celebrated 55 years of history that has been enriched with quality, innovation and a customer-centric approach. Right from the word ‘go’ back in 1962, we have understood the importance of workplace refreshments, and can tailor our services to offer premium hot and cold drinks, snacks, fresh food and water machines and coolers to each individual business. On January 27th 2018, we will be hosting a party to celebrate our 55 years, and it wouldn’t be a standard Coinadrink event if our chosen charities didn’t feature somewhere…

A few weeks back we mentioned that October is the month of Fairtrade; an entire four weeks dedicated to raising awareness of such a fantastic organisation. The first instance of Fairtrade was found in 1946, and it has been ensuring that workers in poorer countries get a better deal for the hard work that they put in ever since. It’s a common myth that Fairtrade is purely based around coffee farmers, but the reality is that it extends to a much broader product range. For the second Fairtrade blog this month, learn about them all below…

The official day for this year’s MacMillan Coffee Morning is Friday 29th September, but we chose today to enjoy our staff’s excellent baking talents along with a delicious cup of coffee!
They did themselves proud, and our showroom was littered with gorgeous cakes ranging from carrot cake to coffee and walnut cake. Paired with expert coffee served from a range of our premium machines in the showroom, it was a tasty morning, and we’re grateful to our staff for taking the time to bake. The only slight issue was there was too much to enjoy, so family members are sure to be enjoying what is on offer tonight!

Jane Achieng Otiu
Now, Jane is comfortably making a healthy profit of Kshs 300-400 every day, thanks to expanding her stock and selling products such as fruit, crisps and fries. This is her only source of income so she doesn’t live a life of dreams, though her profit margins are enough to cover the rent and basic living costs. If the charity continues with its success, a bigger loan of Kshs 40,000 would enable her to put a cover over her stand, to protect it from the wind and rain.

Coinadrink are extremely passionate about charity work, and we always try and help out whenever we can. That’s why were absolutely delighted when we hear of success stories thanks to our good work, and it drives us to continue in the same manner for the future.
We have been contributing towards a group of ladies going under the name Ladies for a Better Life, doing so through the sales of our bottled water for our bottled water coolers. These women, based in the Western parts of Kenya, face the issue of poverty on a day to day basis and such a challenge brings a long list of issues that nobody should have to confront.
Collectively they have aimed to improve their livelihood by running small scale businesses, drawing inspiration from the name of the group as they strive to make a real go of it. Such troubling circumstances for these women can sometimes get them down, but the positive attitude on a whole is simply wonderful.
