Ending the year on a charitable note.
Every year we tie our name to some excellent organisations, and 2017 has seen us work with both Acorns Children’s Hospice and Just Small Change. As the year winds down, it’s pleasing to receive some positive feedback about just how far our efforts have travelled, and the latest recognition comes all the way from Kenya courtesy of Just Small Change.
Just Small Change is a terrific charity that works with African women in poverty. With the help of volunteers and companies such as ourselves, Just Small Change helps these women to build a bridge out of poverty by handing them small scale loans to make a success of their business. When they start to see a positive change in their fortunes, they pay the money back ready to then be distributed to other women. We support the charity by donating a portion of the funds from the sales of our bottled water, and we’re delighted that we have helped make a big difference.
Check out the video below, which was kindly sent into us by Peter and Jane Donaghue who are the founders of Just Small Change. In the video, Angeline, manager for a project in Kisumu, Kenya, explains just what our support over the year means to them…
They say the start of the New Year is out with the old and in with the new. When it comes to charity work, however, we’re keen to keep our charitable efforts consistent. Over the years our work has extended to MacMillan Cancer Support, Help for Heroes and Air Ambulance, some of which we still support today. Take a look at our efforts on MacMillan’s coffee morning back in September!
Just Small Change will continue to receive our support in 2018. If you haven’t already heard, our staff party night is on Saturday 27th January, whereby all staff and their families will come together to celebrate the company’s 55th birthday! There will be a prize draw on the night to which all proceeds will go to both Acorns Children’s Hospice and Just Small Change. It’s a night that we’re very excited by, and more information on the event can be found here.
On a final note, we want to thank Angeline and those at Just Small Change for getting in touch with us, and we hope everyone connected to the organisation has a great Christmas.
