All the weird and wonderful vending machines to grace our planet – continued.
Back in October, we published some of the craziest vending machines that could be found somewhere around the world. Live lobster made the list, and there was also a beer vending machine if you preferred to serve yourself rather than queue at the bar (this one can be found in Hackney, UK, if you’re interested!) On the back of the recent news that the first vending machine for homeless people has just been released in Nottingham, we’re keen to share more weird and wonderful vending machines that we’ve recently found…
Live Crab Vending Machine.
You’ve heard of the live lobster vending machine, now for the live crab! This one can be found in China. The machine maintains an internal temperature of 41F to keep the crabs in hibernation state without actually killing them, and the company promises that it will compensate the user with three live crabs if they vend one that is already dead. People that support animal welfare might have something to say on the matter and rightly so, but we thought it did enough to qualify for our selection.
Lettuce Vending Machine.
Before we go onto explain how this vending machine works, we can’t go any further without revealing the price. An eye watering $90,000 is needed for purchase, but the clever nature of the Japanese machine is still intriguing none-the-less. Aptly named ‘The Chef’s Farm’, it uses florescent light bulbs to help grow up to 60 heads of lettuce every day.
Guitar String Vending Machine.
Have you ever been on your way to a gig before realising that your guitar isn’t up to scratch? No, we haven’t either, but it’s always good to know that there’s a vending machine available to help out if you do, providing you live in Portland, Oregon, that is. It also dispenses drum sticks and guitar picks. This is definitely one of the stranger ones!
Bike Parts Vending Machine.
This crazy vending machine is available on the streets, which makes sense if you think about it. We imagine that quite often people go for a bike ride to have a puncture or something on route, and this is where this machine comes in. You can now get your punctured tyre repaired and even have a snack! It’s available in Brookyln, New York.
Lego Vending Machine.
We imagine that a lot of people would love to try this wonderful machine out, but unfortunately it’s only available in Germany and strangely enough, in some of their train stations! Here you can buy Lego sets for either yourself or your child (we’re sure nobody will judge!).
Homeless Vending Machine.
The aforementioned homeless vending machine courtesy of ‘Action Hunger’ is a great idea, and one we applaud! It can be found in Nottingham and is stocked with items such as toothpaste, sanitary towels, sandwiches and socks. Up to 100 people can access the machine 24 hours a day, and they will be able to access the items using a traceable key card. It’s truly wonderful…
While we can’t put our name to some of the above machines, we can proudly put our name to an excellent range of hot and cold drinks, snack and fresh food alternatives. Why not head to our website to find out more?
