Coinadrink have been partnering with Promise Dreams for four years now, committed to helping terminally ill children make their dreams a reality. Some of the conditions these children have are truly heart-breaking, and the charity just wants to give them and their families some joy and positivity in what is a very difficult time.
Rhyan and Rhys, aged eight and five, suffer with the awful condition of Cystic Fibrosis, meaning extensive hospital appointments, medication and physio rob the boys of the childhood they deserve. As if that wasn’t bad enough, each lad has their own additional life limiting condition…

Here’s a fact for you; if you’re not drinking enough water, your body is secretly suffering without you really knowing about it.
It’s quite often the case in children and teenagers, whose action packed, entertaining lifestyles remarkably can’t make room for regular hydration. Though while all you parents out there encourage your kids to change that worrying reality, it’s quite easy to forget that you need to consume enough fluids yourself. As a general rule, that’s 3 litres for men and 2.2 litres for women on a daily basis.

2017 marks a significant milestone for Coinadrink.
On 2 February, we’ll be celebrating our 55th birthday and even as we’ve been planning how we’ll celebrate and commemorate this auspicious event, my mind has been taking me back to the world as it was when first we opened for business.
Much as I’d like to think otherwise, the foundation of Coinadrink doesn’t quite make it into the list of 1962’s Top Ten events! We didn’t realise it at the time, but 1962 was an eventful year; one which would have an enduring impact on the world.
When we opened for business, Harold Macmillan was PM and according to him, ‘we’d never had it so good’. I suppose he had a point: inflation was low, at just 1.1% and pretty much everybody was in work. The average price of a house was £2,670 – although such a sum would have bought you something pretty impressive in Walsall – and the average wage was £799 a year. A pint of milk cost 1/4d (that’s 6.5p in ‘new’ money!) and a pint in the pub would set you back 2/4d, (11.5p).

Vending machines play an important role in the workplace and are one factor that can positively affect staff morale, which ultimately leads to increased productivity.
Recent research published as part of the Happiness at Work survey, conducted by the London-based New Economics Foundation, indicates at just how important staff morale is. Happiness directly relates to productivity with happy employees having 31 percent higher productivity levels and 37 percent higher sales, while being three times more creative.
With 50 percent of staff saying that they do not feel valued, a modern vending machine should form part of a business’s strategy in retaining top talent.

Sometimes, qualifying for accreditations, such as OHSAS 18001, can deliver tangible benefits – as Workshop Technician Trudi Beet testifies in the latest of our articles about Coinadrink’s ‘Long Service Club’ members.
In a recent blog post, Coinadrink MD Roger Williams considered accreditations and their value to the business. ‘Take ISO for example’, Roger wrote. ‘Some companies take the view that accreditations are an unnecessary distraction, mere ‘boxes that must be ticked’.’
Roger believes that external audits reassure our customers that we’re taking our responsibilities as a supplier and as an employer seriously. ‘We can point people towards our various accreditations and say to them, ‘don’t take our word for it…’, Roger says. Read more
As many of our customers are aware, Coinadrink supports a charity called ‘Just Small Change.’ We have a simple formula: every time somebody buys a bottle of water from one of our bottled water coolers, we donate a percentage. So far we’ve raised £750.
It’s not much, is it? In fact, it’s just small change…
However, as anyone who’s ever collected coins in a jar will know, over time, that ‘small change’ can turn into a substantial sum of money and with that in mind, we thought you might be interested to find out how that money is being used. Read more
Remember the story we shared back in November, about our annual ‘Long Service’ dinner? (Click here to read it). We were making the point that the number of Coinadrink staff, who are entitled to attend the ‘do’, (because they’ve been with us for at least twenty-five years), now stands at fourteen. Add to that partners and, of course, Roger and Yvonne and it’s quite a get-together; which is, we’re sure you’ll agree, a pretty amazing fact in this day and age.
So here’s another pretty amazing fact for you: it’s about Stuart Westwood, our popular Service Manager. When he joined our long-service legends in 2013, he was the youngest of the lot. In fact, it’s not possible to be any younger and be a club member…Stuart Westwood Allow us to explain: Stuart was born on the 27th of August, 1972. He joined us straight from Willenhall Comprehensive, starting on 26th of July, 1988, aged 15 years, 11 months. So, add 25 to that, and you have it. Achieving 25 years of service at Coinadrink, aged 40 years and 11 months, is a record that’s never going to be broken. You see, since Stuart’s day, the school-leaving age has been raised…
