Coinadrink supports the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank this Christmas.
Coinadrink Limited, the West Midlands vending machine company, has once again opened our hearts this Christmas and donated £500 worth of stock to the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank, which is part of the Trussell Trust charity.
With 2022 seeing the cost of living drastically spike, food poverty has tragically taken the same direction. Our team at Coinadrink have partnered with our suppliers to aid the excellent work in our local community.
Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank – A background.
The Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank opened in 2018. Today, it is one of over 1400 food banks dotted across the UK.
This particular food bank extends to those in need who are based across the Walsall area. Like the vast majority of food banks in our country, the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank operates under the Trussell Trust name.
Food poverty has long been a distressing reality, but it’s a problem that has been accelerated during and since the Covid-19 pandemic. Today, 1 in 5 people live below the poverty line and last years’ figures recorded over 2 million British people relying on the services of a food bank.
Worse still, the Trussell Trust published that over 832,000 children were among those who used their centres during 2021.
The cost-of-living crisis has since made matters even tougher. Here in the Walsall, West Midlands, area, the average rental price of a one-bedroom flat is £435 a month. Rising costs like these in our community is pushing more and more families towards the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank.
It is the same upsetting story in communities up and down our country.
Like all foodbanks, the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank is funded by volunteers inspired by the same mission: to stop food hunger.
Together, we’re proud to support the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank.
Supporting charities and good causes in our local area is ingrained in our DNA and our entire team at Coinadrink were keen to help what is a great cause.
Throughout December, employees who were able and happy to help donated a selection of much needed products for the food bank. The graphic below is what was communicated to our staff towards the end of November, outlining the items the Bloxwich and Blakenall Food Bank would be most grateful for.
Moreover, our donations were in addition to supplies donated by the business and a selection of our trusted suppliers, including Britvic and Mondelez.
Between the three organisations, we are delighted to donate a variety of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, chocolate, crisps, and biscuits. We want to put on record our gratitude to both Britvic and Mondelez for their kind gestures.
Meanwhile, we were also been overwhelmed by the generosity of our own team here at Coinadrink.
It just goes to show how our employees really buy into our charitable ethos as a business. Christmas is arguably the best time to show empathy to those less fortunate, supporting the work of food banks to give our community members a helping hand.
A big thank you to everyone involved.
