Coinadrink Limited is the proud sponsor of Ian’s Walk.

In 2020, Ian Hawkins’ family were told by doctors and nurses at The Walsall Manor Hospital to prepare for the worst. Ian was admitted into hospital after developing Covid-19 symptoms and experiencing breathing difficulties, and from there his health rapidly declined. Within 24 hours, he was placed on full ventilation.

Ian spent over two months in hospital having suffered from a multitude of serious conditions from pneumonia and sepsis to multiple organ failure and a secondary bacterial infection. He was an extremely sick man.

Remarkably, and with the help of the incredible Critical Care Rehabilitation Team at The Walsall Manor Hospital, Ian fought back to tell the tale today. Now, he wants to give something back to show his appreciation. Ian’s Walk will be taking place on Sunday 27th June, a 26 mile hike that will hopefully raise valuable funds for the department. And Coinadrink Limited are proud sponsors!

The walk will be taking place in conjunction with the Well Wishers charity located within The Walsall Manor Hospital. Over the past 15 months we have been big supporters of the charity.

We have supported them with coffee machines and supplies for the staff in the ICU wards, we supported with a donation of toys for their Christmas Wish List campaign for the childrens ward and we have worked together with other local businesses to help get more support for their staff through what has been a really challenging time both physically and mentally.

We are all hoping that Covid-19 will soon become a part of history and the focus switches to recovery of people and businesses. In many ways, Ian’s walk will mark this switch. We are funding commemorative t-shirts for walkers on the day as well as providing with refreshments at Burntwood Rugby club for all the walkers to recharge their batteries for the return leg of the journey.

The walk has various points and landmarks and focuses on walking the canal paths right up to Chasewater, then around the lake and back again. It would be fantastic if people could take part in the walk, no matter how little or how far. You can find the route below, with each joining point listed.

Ian’s walk is taking place on Sunday 27th June 2021, starting from Walsall Manor Hospital main entrance at 7:30am, arriving at Chasewater at 11:30am and starting the return walk from Burntwood Rugby Club at 12:15pm.
