Coinadrink retains the Investors in People Gold accreditation!
Coinadrink is thrilled to share that we have retained our Investors in People Gold accreditation. For a business that values our team so highly and makes sure we are a great place for our employees to work, this award means the world to us.
We last retained the accreditation in 2021 and earlier this year we received the news that it was time for our next review.
All staff members here at Coinadrink received an online survey of which the answers provided would be completely anonymous, so everyone was free to share their honest thoughts about their employer and what they felt could be improved.
It was then time for an assessor from Investors in People to come in and interview randomly selected people to gather their opinions in further detail.
After a rigorous assessment, we received the lovely news towards the end of June 2024 that we had successfully retained the prestigious Gold standard that we have held so proudly since 2018.
Naturally, we wanted to share the good news with our staff before sharing anything externally, for this is a team award that demonstrates how highly we value our employees – and the levels we go to in order to emphasise it.
Our late founder Roger Williams instilled a positive company culture from day one, ensuring that Coinadrink isn’t just a workplace, but an environment to enjoy and thrive in.
In many ways we are like one big family here, looking out for one another and having everyone’s best interests at heart. It’s not really surprising when our average length of service is just shy of 13 years; most people have worked together for such a long time.
Small touches like finishing at 3pm on Friday’s, as well as free coffee-shop style hot drinks and heavily subsidised snacks and fresh food are always well received, as is a free turkey or high street voucher for all staff at Christmas time, but we go beyond that.
Roger was always passionate about learning and career development and believed providing such opportunities here at Coinadrink would be an unrivalled benefit to offer his staff.
As such, the business has offered a nationally approved apprenticeship programme for decades, which is open to all staff regardless of age, role and seniority. Contrary to popular belief, apprenticeships aren’t just for those leaving school, and over the years we have recorded lots of success stories here.
Opportunities arise from either management actively sourcing them for their departments, or employees themselves approaching senior personnel if there is an area they are interested in or would like to develop their skills in.
Staff past and present have enrolled on a variety of courses, including sales and marketing, engineering, IT and so much more.
It’s important to note that, whilst Coinadrink is big on reward and internal progression, these qualifications can equally be of benefit elsewhere if staff ever decide to leave the business.
After all, Roger’s mantra was: “if a person was to ever leave Coinadrink, they would do so in a better position than when they started with us.”
Since Roger’s passing in 2022, his son Tom Williams has expertly taken over the reigns as Managing Director and continued where his father left off. 2023 saw us become an officially recognised Real Living Wage provider, and we also were able to offer all staff members access to private healthcare through the company towards the end of the year.
Meanwhile, we hosted our first staff social at Flight Club, Birmingham, in February of this year, a simple but thoroughly enjoyable way to bring staff together outside their usual working environment.
Moving forward, we plan to host another staff social event later this year.
Perhaps it is no surprise, then, that our team consider Coinadrink a fantastic company to work for. Naturally, our official report from the assessors did highlight some areas for improvement which we will endeavour to work towards, but being awarded this accreditation is always a reason to celebrate.
Our shiny gold plaque already has pride of place in our reception area, and this is yet another lovely talking point amongst us all that helps keep morale high in the business.
Needless to say, we’ll be talking about it for some time!
