The big impact of a small water filter fitted to your hot drinks vending machine.
As part of our operated service to customers, Coinadrink fits Brita water filters to our hot drinks vending machines and commercial coffee machines.
Read on to understand why this matters and what makes makes a water filter a small but vital commodity.
What is a water filter and what does it do?
A water filter eliminates the impurities from your water supply to deliver clean, safe and refreshing drinking water at the point of dispense.
Have you ever thought that drinking water tastes different in different parts of the country? Rest assured that you weren’t imagining it. Water dissolves more substances than any other liquid and the natural properties of drinking water can vary from area to area.
Amongst other substances, water takes in minerals, and it’s these minerals that determine the “hardness” of your water. The more minerals present, the harder your water will be.
Clean, safe and refreshing drinking water needs to be soft, so a water filter is designed to remove these minerals.
Brita provide some of the leading water filtration systems across the globe and Coinadrink has been using them as part of our vending machine and commercial coffee machine service for decades.
The importance of a water filter fitted to a vending machine
You find your favourite hot drink on the touchscreen display and the hot drinks vending machine dispenses it. There’s nothing more to think about, right?
Thanks to the Brita water filters we fit to all of our serviced equipment, that’s indeed correct. You can vend and enjoy your Americano, Flat White or cup of tea with no concerns surrounding hygiene or quality.
Naturally, for a hot drinks vending machine or most commercial coffee machines to operate, they need to be plumbed-in to your mains water supply. And a water filter needs to be fitted to your machine in order to eliminate any potential impurities from that supply.
Regardless of how many minerals were present in your water, the water filter will “filter” them all out, which means it’ll both taste and look as it should.
And great water equals great tea and coffee. After all, a cup of coffee contains 98% water, whilst a cup of tea contains over 99%! When water is so important to the overall quality of your favourite beverage, a water filter is absolutely vital to the overall experience.
But it’s not only drink quality that benefits from the presence of a water filter. It can also protect your equipment and even lower your energy usage.
You see, a water filter can protect a hot drinks vending machine or a commercial coffee machine from limescale build up and potentially other nasty deposits, which if not rectified can lead to damage, costly repairs, and machine downtime.
It’s also thought that just 1mm of scale buildup inside a machine can lead to 7% more energy use, owing to the fact that it needs to work harder for longer.
Unlike some other vending operators, Coinadrink includes both the cost the initial water filter and the cost of regular replacements in your service.
How often does Coinadrink change the water filter on your vending machine?
It all depends on the hardness of your water and how much water goes through your vending machine or commercial coffee machine.
As such, the frequency of water filter changes will be unique to your requirements, which in many ways provides you with further peace of mind. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Prior to installing your new hot drinks solution, our team will run tests on your water quality so we can determine the type of water filter that needs to be fitted to your machine.
From there, we are able to see how much water is passing through your machine in real time, or, in other words, how often the machine is getting used by your employees and visitors.
Once the volume meets the required level, one of our trained engineers will visit your site to swap your water filter over without you needing to chase us. This ensures you will always have a water filter performing to its optimum.
Coinadrink includes filter changes in our operated vending service, and in the optional maintenance plan that covers our commercial coffee machines.
