Red Nose Day is a light-hearted yet fantastic charitable event, conducted by Comic Relief every two years. Everyone is gearing up for a night of comedy and fundraising that will hit our TV screens tonight, with red noses set to be a common sight. But when did it all begin? And why are those funky red noses so significant?
The last one was a huge success, and the next one will be here before you know it; the Promise Dreams annual walk. Arriving this year on Sunday 13th September, you can help raise a lot of money for seriously and terminally ill children…and help make their dreams come true. The walk is 9 miles which may seem far but in reality, your help extends much, much further than that.
It’s Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event, where people across the UK hold a coffee morning and raise money for people living with cancer. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20 million.
Whats it all about?
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. And as treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. The money raised at the coffee mornings will help make sure no one has to face cancer alone, from the moment they’re diagnosed, through treatment and beyond.
Coinadrink will be enjoying a coffee and a slice of cake, or two, to support this excellent charity!
This month Coinadrink have chosen a local charity to be the main focus of our fund-raising efforts. Promise Dreams is a national registered children’s charity, based in Wolverhampton. It was launched in 2001 to make dreams reality for seriously and terminally ill children, and their families, across the UK. Over the 12 years that the charity has been in existence more than 1,150 very special children have seen their dreams come true.
