How Tesla is using vending machines to enhance EV charging for its customers.

Tesla produce some of the most desirable electric vehicles on the market, so it’s not uncommon to see the manufacture offering a little bit more to their customers compared to the competition.

In their latest development, Tesla has introduced pod lounges to supercharging stations across Germany equipped with vending machines and more, that their customers can access.

According to reports, Tesla have been looking to enhance the customers’ experience at supercharging stations for some time now, especially in more remote locations.

Their electric vehicles, which include the Model S, Model Y and the best-selling Model 3, support fast charging which enables drivers to recharge to around 80% in as little as 20 minutes.

However, that’s still 20 minutes whereby the driver is required to hang around waiting. As a welcome alternative to having to kill time by flicking through your smartphone, Tesla have introduced pod stations equipped with toilets, seating and even vending machines to make the wait a little more comfortable.

They have teamed up with a company called bK World, a specialist provider of service station equipment. The pods, also known, as “Qubes” are now available to use, with the first having been launched in Endsee, Germany, back in June.

They are modular designs that can be assembled, disassembled, and relocated for convenience, but are large enough to create a literal convenience hub complete with everything the motorist might need whilst on-the-go.

Drivers use an app to sign into the lounges whilst their vehicle is charging.

Amongst the facilities in the lounges are a collection of vending machines, a great refreshment solution that can keep drivers fed and hydrated in no time at all.

It appears the convenience of vending, combined with the advanced innovation in modern day machines, is just what Tesla required to create a premium short stay for their customers.

Moving forward, Tesla are planning on developing around 300 lounge pods across Europe.
