This years’ MacMillan Coffee Morning has come and gone but what a morning it was. In fact, it was so good that we extended it over both the Thursday and Friday! Colleagues at Coinadrink excelled themselves with a terrific display of delicious goodies: I only wish I was there to see it myself! Without wishing to blow our own trumpet, Coinadrink and charity work go hand in hand and we managed to raise a total of £80! It’s clear our staff pulled through once again for such a fantastic organisation.

As we’re gearing up for the latest MacMillan Coffee Morning scheduled for today and tomorrow, I just wanted to issue a little throwback to last years’ efforts. One year ago today saw our staff join the rest of the world with our own little coffee morning and boy was it a good one! Our staff brought out their inner Mary Berry’s and Jamie Oliver’s to bake a delicious assortment of goodies, all of which were displayed in our showroom.
MacMillan’s Coffee Morning is back on Friday 28thSeptember and Coinadrink is delighted to be taking part once again. Now, working for a vending company, we know better than most about the power of a great cup of coffee, but not even we could have forecast just how successful this annual coffee morning would be. From the first ever event in 1990, MacMillan has raised over £200 million courtesy of all you wonderful people across the globe. That’s truly excellent work!
A background to the coffee morning…
Regarded as the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, MacMillan brings friends, family and colleagues together for a great cause.
It’s Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event, where people across the UK hold a coffee morning and raise money for people living with cancer. In 2013, 154,000 people signed up, raising a record £20 million.
Whats it all about?
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. And as treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. The money raised at the coffee mornings will help make sure no one has to face cancer alone, from the moment they’re diagnosed, through treatment and beyond.
Coinadrink will be enjoying a coffee and a slice of cake, or two, to support this excellent charity!

The MacMillan Coffee Morning is the charites biggest fundraising event, and each year members of the general public get to host their very own morning which predominantly takes place in the UK where MacMillan operates. The donations received for the coffee mornings go towards MacMillan’s fantastic cancer services.
In 2013, MacMillan received a total donation of £20 million from around 154,000 people.
Everybody loves to get involved with these meetings, because it’s a chance to share a cup of the good stuff with new people as well as help fund a fantastic cause.

Earlier in the year Coinadrink celebrated its 50th anniversary by hosting a Party Night at the National Motor Cycle Museum. The charity chosen as the beneficiary of the evening was Macmillan Cancer Support. The evening was a great success and the various fund raising activities on the night were very generously supported.
A cheque for £5826.09, the proceeds of the evening, was presented by Roger Williams, Managing Director of Coinadrink to Eloise Davidson who received it on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. Eloise thanked everybody at Coinadrink for the magnificent amount they had raised. She went on to say ‘Macmillan together with charities generally had suffered a slowdown in donations during the recession so this cheque was very welcome’.
Roger Williams commented that ‘the company was very appreciative of the work Macmillan Cancer Support carried out. The families of some Coinadrink staff had been very grateful for the support they had received, at some challenging times in their family lives, from the Macmillan nurses. Roger Williams went on to say ‘he was pleased that the evening had raised a significant amount of money to help them carry on with their good work’.
