All about World Water Day.
World Water Day falls on the 22nd March every year, and is about focussing attention on the importance of water. The event advocates the sustainable management of fresh water resources, and raises awareness to encourage others to help make a difference. Humans rely on water consumption, and must drink a certain amount every day for our bodies to work to their full potential, so World Water Day plays a key role in our health.
World Water Day 2018 Theme: Nature for Water.
Every year, World Water Day focusses on a different theme to highlight the challenges we face in the 21st century. This year, to celebrate the cause turning 25 years old, World Water Day is stemmed around ‘Nature for Water’. Nature for water explores how we can use nature to overcome the water challenges of the 21st century, which include damaged ecosystems.
When we neglect our ecosystems, we make it harder to provide everyone with the water we need to survive. Natural disasters such as floods, drought and water pollution are made worse by degraded rivers and lakes, so this years’ theme will help find solutions to the cause.
Facts behind the water of the world.
They make for concerning reading. Today, 2.1 billion people live without safe drinking water at home, which severely impacts their health, education and livelihoods. In addition, there are 663 million people living without a safe water supply close to their home, which means they must either spend time travelling to find a suitable source or deal with the consequences of consuming contaminated water.
Globally, over 80% of the wastewater generated by our society does not get reused, and World Water Day believes that nature based solutions are the way forward in solving such issues. These include methods such as planting new forests, reconnecting rivers to floodplains and restoring wetlands to rebalance the water cycle.
Make sure you and your staff remain hydrated.
You don’t need us to tell you that remaining hydrated is extremely important to our overall health, and how much fluids you need will depend on your circumstances.
We make ice cold water readily available in your business through our diverse range of water coolers, but it wouldn’t be available to you if World Water Day was to sacrifice its efforts. You and your staff have a lot to thank them for, as water coolers provide healthy hydration on demand. Keeping hydrated is vital to a higher productivity level.
