Walk For Dreams – Only 5 weeks to go…….
It’s only 5 weeks until Walk For Dreams 2014!
We hope your sponsorship raising is going well so far. To raise a few extra pennies, the Promise Dreams team have suggested you walk in fancy dress and ask people to sponsor a little bit more generously in recognition of your efforts?
Freya Felton will be completing the walk with her family on the day, and wanted to give you a little reminder of why your involvement in this walk is so important:
“My name is Freya and I want to tell you why it’s important that you sign up for Walk for Dreams 2014. I am 9 years old and I have a hereditary condition called Pancreatitis. It means that I have to be very careful when I’m playing as any knocks or bumps can lead to severe pain and there is a risk of internal bleeding. I am fed through a gastrostomy tube, which I change myself, and sometimes I feel loads of pain for no reason and I am sick. This means I have to spend a lot of time in hospital and miss school. It’s hard not getting to see my friends every day and having a “normal” life like other children.
When Promise Dreams gave me a playhouse for the garden I was so happy – it meant I had a special place to relax by myself and I could have fun playing safely. I still love my playhouse and spend hours playing in it. Mum says that Promise Dreams have brought smiles to our whole family, not just me. I will be completing Walk For Dreams with my family – if I can do it so can you! Your support can help other children like me to have a reason to smile, so join me and Promise Dreams for a fun family day out!”
There are lots of exciting things for you to look forward to on the day, including a fun warm-up with Signal 107 and some famous faces, and a fabulous welcome party when you arrive at the finish line where you will find refreshments, face painting, and many more exciting stalls.
