Wacky vending machines continue to appear in what is a flexible industry.
Not too long ago we shared a news article that explored the popularity of the vending machine. We detailed how it has developed into an attractive channel to provide refreshments and products, especially during Covid-19.
Of course, such a flexible industry introduces new opportunities for businesses, groups, and individuals. It is no wonder that it is grabbing lots of attention right now with wacky vending machines that continue to appear.
Let’s take a look.
Milkshake Vending Machine – Anglesey, Wales, UK.
In June 2021, Gareth Jones and his family developed a milkshake vending machine as an alternative sales channel for customers looking to purchase fresh milk from their farm.
The vending machine is housed in a wooden hut for protection from the elements and is situated just off the A5025 in Cemaes. Whilst the family faced some objections and had to receive council permission to set up the facility, the overall support was positive.
The milkshake vending machine is meeting local need, supporting a local business, and improving sustainability efforts, as the product doesn’t need to travel as far to reach the customer. It also has offered Gareth and his family an alternative sales channel at a challenging time.
Milk vending machines have frequently appeared during the pandemic. We are pleased that Anglesey Council have approved plans with this one.
Jacquemus Vending Machine – Paris, France.
An exclusive French designer brand, you probably haven’t heard of Jacquemus. Regardless, the company are one of the latest to emphasise the flexibility and possibilities of vending with their “capsule” machine.
Taking inspiration from the masses of automated convenience stores dotted around the country as a way to reduce waiting times and increase peace of mind, 355 square feet of space has been filled with 90 automated lockers, with a digital screen as a till and catalogue.
It was primarily set up as a way for the brand to promote their new Bambino Long handbag but offers a healthy scale of products in addition. The “store” is hard to miss with its bright pink visuals and glowing neon lettering, enticing people into what is a futuristic facility that is in many ways like our automated Micro Market.
After ordering and making payment, the customer receives a locker number with a code to receive their product. Behind the scenes, regular refills ensure nobody leaves disappointed.
Pizza Vending Machine – San Antonio, California, USA.
It has never been unusual to approach the services of a vending machine for a snack or bite to eat. Advanced technology is now changing the face of the industry to almost offer restaurant-style food in no time at all.
Located in San Antonio International Airport, a new pizza vending machine developed by Basil Street has appeared that promises to prepare a 10-inch brick-oven pizza in just three minutes. Great for busy and stressed travellers, customers can embrace a variety of pizza toppings from pepperoni to buffalo chicken from as little as $6.95.
The idea was conceived back in 2020 and there were already three of their kind dotted around the state of Texas before this one officially appeared on the 1st of December, the first ever to be placed in an airport. Revelling in extremely high demand, the company now plans to roll more out soon.
Whilst these pizza vending machines are exclusive to Basil Street, there have been other instances of pizza vending machines seen around the world.
Wacky vending machines show what is possible.
These three examples merely scratch the surface of the wacky vending machines that have appeared since the start of Covid. Indeed, if you spare 5 or 10 minutes of your time to take a look online, you’ll be amazed.
The pandemic has undoubtedly introduced new routes of sale, that were either forced or desired. Even now many businesses and individuals are still keen to persist with this channel in addition to their traditional ways of doing business.
The vending machine is a flexible entity for the provision of food, drink and more, with spacious compartments that can be customised to suit the type of product you want to provide. Coupled with the variety of payment facilities you can offer customers are loving this quicker and safer route to get what they want.
