It’s been one of the worst winters in recent memory. Many mornings have begun with extremely cold starts, and we’ve often had to make the journey into work through snow, ice, wind and rain. It’s only natural, then, to crave a hot drink when we finally do get into the office. Very little else can motivate you in the same way a hot drink can, but as the colder weather looks set to continue for a little while longer, we’re asking you not to forget your water cooler either. Many people disregard the topic of hydration all too easily in the winter, and this is dangerous.

Free water refill points to cut plastic waste.

In the wake of the ‘Latte Levy’ proposition hitting our news, there has now been a plan to reduce the number of plastic bottles that get wasted every year. The figures regarding plastic waste make for concerning reading, and industry body Water UK is proposing a new scheme to offer free water refill points in every major city and town in England by 2021. Keep hydrated this winter and improve your health.

Rather understandably, hot drinks are extremely popular in the winter. Whilst many of us need our tea or coffee to get us up and running in the morning, the cold, January climes mean our hot drinks machines are working overtime throughout the entire working day rather than just the start. This is all well and good: we’re certainly not one to criticise the consumption of hot drinks in the slightest. However, while the hot drinks machine can’t attract enough visitors, your water cooler nearby is struggling for attention, and this isn’t good. Your health is at risk.

Hydration is rightfully a hot topic in the summer. For all the beauty of a warmer climate and the lighter mornings and evenings, it’s easy for a black cloud to appear if you don’t consume enough fluids, even if you’re not doing any strenuous activity.
