Coinadrink Limited – The Vending Company: Are your New Year’s Resolutions manageable?
The New Year is now upon us and with that comes a host of resolutions that we’d all love to stick to. From eating healthier to hitting the gym at least a couple of times a week, we’re all desperate to better ourselves after a Christmas period undoubtedly consumed with lots of alcohol and lots of chocolate…Step one, before anything else however, is to set manageable goals.
In many ways 2018 was a chaotic 12 months, so looking after your physical and mental health are probably the most important resolutions to think about as we start the New Year. Simple aspects of life such as exercise, hydration and healthy eating introduces a happier lifestyle that is hard to put a price on, but we know better than anyone that it doesn’t need to be difficult to enjoy. Sticking to healthier activities can be harder during the working day, but just think of the benefits that are there to be had…
Keep hydrated.
We’ve long been aware that hydration carries numerous health benefits, from improving energy levels to increasing brain function. It needn’t be a chore, but you do need motivation, especially when it’s so easy to get lost in the wave of the stresses and strains of the modern world. Our employees regularly take advantage of our water cooler in reception, a focal point for a higher productivity level.
Healthy eating.
I know all too well that it can be difficult to stick to this, especially if you have a sweet tooth like me. Like I said at the beginning of this article, though, setting manageable goals are important. Completely cutting chocolate or crisps out of your diet isn’t necessary, but you can combine such goodies with healthier choices. Whilst it’s hard when you’re at work, again staying motivated is key. A fresh food machine or Micro Market will encourage you to stay on site during break time, as opposed to settling for fast food in the rush to get back to the office on time. Both our fresh food machines and Micro Markets stock healthier items including fresh sandwiches, wraps, salads and fruit.
Exercise.
In contrast, if you’re someone who does have more time than most on your break, why not use the opportunity to take a walk and get some fresh air? Fresh air is one of the easiest, yet healthiest, habits to implement into your life, providing more energy, better sleep and reducing stress and depression. Finding time to be outside can clear your mind and improve your mental health.
Find other ways to improve your wellbeing.
Reducing stress can be helped by taking advantage of things you enjoy, such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There’s a reason why most of us reach for a hot drink to start our day, and that’s because of the way it makes us feel. The stimulating effect on caffeine helps keep us productive for the day ahead, whilst the warming sensation is perfect for this time of the year. If you really want to impress your colleagues with your knowledge, research suggests that coffee drinkers could experience physical benefits such as preventing type 2 diabetes and lowering the risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2019? Introducing those three simple additions into your life may just pave the way for a happier, healthier year.
