Meet the Apprentice on National Apprenticeship Week 2021: Harry Hampson.

Onto day four of National Apprenticeship Week 2021, and today’s story comes courtesy of our BTEC Level 3 Electrical and Electronics Engineering Apprentice Harry Hampson!

Harry has taken advantage of Coinadrink’s very own apprenticeship programme which is just one of the reasons why the company is proudly Investors in People Gold accredited.  

With a trusted team alongside him, Harry is jointly responsible for servicing our vending machines and making sure they operate to the extremely high quality that we expect. Harry ensures that our equipment is fit for purpose to help ensure of a hassle-free vending machine experience for the customer.

Now, just like Alistair, Julie and Simran who have shared their own stories this week, here Harry runs through his own experiences regarding his BTEC Level 3 Electrical and Electronics Engineering course so far.

1. What is your current apprenticeship course?

I am currently on an advanced apprenticeship. I work 4 days a week and have a one-day college placement. My course is called BTEC Level 3 Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The course covers all the theory you need to learn to become competent in the work environment.

2. What were your initial fears and how did Coinadrink help you overcome these?

My initial fear was the fact that I was not used to working with electrical equipment. I was concerned that I may not be able to do the job competently. However, my manager and my colleagues are always there to provide hands-on support should I need them. This has given me the confidence that I can succeed.

3. What are the main skills you feel you have learnt?

I have learnt how to be professional in the workplace which I value very highly. As for developing my skills, I firstly learnt how to complete simple engineering tasks before eventually being able fully service one of our vending machines, all whilst learning the theory and regulations behind what we do.

These are all skills that I can’t wait to develop further.

4. How has Coinadrink supported you throughout the course?

Coinadrink has supported me throughout my placement by providing hands-on support and their expert experience and knowledge when required. To add to this, they have also been hand to help me with the theory and my coursework, so I feel like I can approach them about anything.

5. Would you recommend an apprenticeship to a friend? If so, why?

100%. Coinadrink has taken me to many different industrial environments and I have had a full experience of the vending trade. A work placement at Coinadrink is brilliant because you’re learning while getting paid and becoming competent in your role, while learning from experts.
