How your cup of coffee could make a difference on UK Coffee Week 2022.
Coinadrink Limited the vending machine company is raising awareness of UK Coffee Week 2022. This national weekly event campaigns in support of Project Waterfall, and coffee lovers from all over the world are invited to sign up, take part, and raise valuable funds for this incredible initiative.
About UK Coffee Week.
At home, work or on-the-go, coffee is a necessity for many of us, but we don’t always think about where it comes from and those who make it possible.
Coffee growing communities exist all over the world and they work tirelessly to supply us with the coffee beans we crave. Unfortunately, many of these operate in tough climates, where poverty is rife, and quality of life can be distressing.
UK Coffee Week fundraises for these communities through Project Waterfall. This aims to bring clean drinking water, sanitation, and education to 771 million people around the world, many of whom reside in the areas responsible for our cup of coffee.
Coffee is a water-intensive crop with a large water footprint. Up to 840L of water is needed to make one 750ml pot of coffee. That’s more than tea, sugar, wheat, and barley. But whilst we enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the end of the supply chain are facing a water crisis.
Project Waterfall aims to give back to those who so selflessly sacrifice their own health and wellbeing for us.
Whether you serve, sell, sip or roast coffee beans, we can all stand up to make a big difference.
Their work so far.
UK Coffee Week has been up and running since 2011. The individuals behind the programme have so far raised over £800,000 for Project Waterfall but acknowledge that our own communities are just as important.
In 2021, funds raised during the campaign helped transform the lives of over 10,000 in Ethiopia, one of the biggest coffee producers around the world. Project Waterfall worked in conjunction with Water Aid to rebuild the multi-village water system, which will provide ongoing sustainable water provision.
100% of the water raised from UK Coffee Week goes straight into success stories like this one.
How you can make a difference on UK Coffee Week.
We all enjoy our cup of coffee in different ways. Some prefer to savour it at home, some prefer to grab a cup on their way into work, whilst others enjoy using their coffee machine or vending machine in the workplace.
But the ease in raising money on UK Coffee Week is the same for everyone.
For example, you could add a pot to the side of your coffee or vending machine welcoming donations to the cause. Retailers and hospitality outlets have already jumped on board, but you can also head online to donate if your favourite branch hasn’t.
Coffee is so powerful that it has formed a culture that continues to develop. With this delicious hot beverage powering our lives every day, isn’t it about time you woke up and smelt the coffee over the “hidden” problems that plague the industry?
Coffee farmers all over the world need your help. UK Coffee Week strives to do just that, but they cannot do it alone.
