Here’s One Dream That Did Come True… Thanks To You
Remember when we asked you to fill out a Customer Care survey and we promised we’d donate £5 to charity for every completed form? Well, if you took part, this is where the fiver you generated ended up…
You’ve probably never heard of Leigh’s Syndrome. It’s a rare inherited neurometabolic disorder, which affects the central nervous system.
Olivia is sixteen years old and if you click on the ‘Leigh’s syndrome’ link above, you’ll get some idea of what she has to live with; but be warned: it’s not, in any sense, an easy read just as hers is not, in any sense, an easy life…
It’s heartbreaking, but the irrefutable fact is that hers is a ‘life limiting condition’; it means she’s a semi – permanent resident at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. You wouldn’t choose it as a venue for your 16th birthday party, but that’s what circumstances dictated: Olivia needs constant care and supervision.
When she’s not in hospital, Olivia spends time at Acorn’s Children’s Hospice but just now, she’s been at home for ‘three whole months’ – which is a new and very welcome ‘Personal Best’.
Keeping in touch with her family and friends has been a problem and Olivia yearned for an iPad, (which, for the uninitiated, is a hand-held device that enables users to (amongst other things) communicate with just about anyone from just about anywhere – including a hospital bed…)
Described as ‘a little ray of sunshine to all who know her’, Olivia is an inspirational young lady who faces the challenges of her condition with a wicked sense of humour and a ready smile.
It’s so that we can help exceptional young people such as Olivia that, as a company, we have an association with an amazing organisation called Promise Dreams. Based just down the road from Coinadrink HQ, in Wolverhampton, Promise Dreams is a national registered children’s charity that was launched in 2001 to make dreams come true for seriously and terminally ill children, and their families, across the UK.
Remember when we asked you to fill out a Customer Care survey and we promised we’d donate £5 to charity for every completed form? Well, if you took part, this is where the fiver you generated ended up – in the form of an iPad in the hands of a delighted and deserving youngster. We’d thought you’d like to know that your generosity spirit has made a definite, discernible, tangible difference. The picture says it all.
‘We are delighted to be continuing our association with Teresa, Julie and all the team at Coinadrink’, Amy Johnson of Promise Dreams told us. ‘It’s lovely to be able to introduce our special families to the people who promote our cause and work hard to raise the money we need make dreams come true. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported Coinadrink in their fundraising efforts and we’re looking forward to turning many more dreams into reality with their continuing and much appreciated help.’
We’d like to echo those sentiments and add our thanks to everybody who participated. Thank-you.
