Throughout our history, we have seen vending progress to admirable lengths. Never more so, however, than when the world’s first vending machine was created for homeless people. Installed in Nottingham last month, the machine dispenses key items such as water, fresh fruit, soap, toothpaste and books. Whilst the technology behind it isn’t anything revolutionary, it’s the generosity behind the idea that has sparked attention. Sipping on National Tea Month.

On a rather strange introduction to National Tea Month, we want to begin by saying that tea is no longer the Nation’s beverage of choice. While this may be rather depressing for the tea lovers out there, the fact is that the rise in coffee shops such as Costa and Starbucks have actually soared coffee way beyond its counterpart. It is worth remembering, though, that such a change in our hot beverage choice is more about the rise in coffee as oppose to the fall in tea.

It was only little over a year ago that a survey from Unilever recorded that 66% of people drink tea in the home compared to 64% that drink coffee. Rest assured that us Brits are still very much a tea loving Nation, and a piping hot cup of tea is often what’s needed for many of us.

You can’t put a price on quality refreshments. The ability to visit the vending machine in your workplace whenever you desire is underestimated, and you’ll soon wonder how you ever did without. It limits the need to head off site for your break in potentially poor conditions, and increases morale for the rest of the day ahead. This is just as important for the employer and it is for the employee, as you’ll see a notable rise in their productivity level.

All the weird and wonderful vending machines to grace our planet – continued.

Back in October, we published some of the craziest vending machines that could be found somewhere around the world.
