An update on our Management Apprentice, Simran Salan.
On National Apprenticeship Week, you met Simran Salan, who hadn’t long started her Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship Level 6 (CMDA). You can find that article here where Simran detailed her initial fears regarding the course and how Coinadrink Limited supported her.
Over three months later, Simran is now well into her apprenticeship. As a “follow up” article, here she explains how she is finding the course so far and what skills she has been able to apply to the real working environment. It’s certainly been an eye opener.
1. How are you finding your apprenticeship so far?
My apprenticeship has been really good so far. I’m coming up to the end of my first year and I can’t emphasise enough how supportive Coinadrink have been throughout the process, especially given the pandemic. They have also helped to accommodate to my course topics as best as possible and provide guidance on any issues I’m unsure on. I can’t wait to continue learning more in the following years!
2. What has been the most interesting area you have covered so far?
Moving into the accounts departments and getting involved with how Coinadrink deal with their finance has been really interesting. It changed my outlook on this department for the better and I am really enjoying my time so far. Accounts work in a practical environment is a lot more diverse than the theoretical ideals which is great that I can experience both!
3. Have you managed to apply any of the learning to your role?
I have applied a lot of my learning to my role. For example, I am currently studying for a finance exam whilst being based in the finance office and liaising with our manager. This has helped me to recognise certain terminology and understand concepts a lot better.
4. Have you continued to receive support and guidance from Coinadrink Limited?
As previously mentioned, Coinadrink have provided nothing but ongoing support, guidance and advice regarding my learning. Whether it’s do with my course modules or the practical work, there is always someone available that I can go to if I am unsure or stuck with anything.
Coinadrink have also given me flexible working (working from home) and 1-1 mentoring to make sure I am comfortable and have a good understanding of what I am doing on a daily basis.
